This is the book report of Sarah Abdel Mawgoud

Answer the following questions.

Before you read

Why did you choose this book? What aroused your interest in it?

Because my sister and my brother were always talking about it and I never
watched or read it. And then my idol (Shawn Mendes), who adores Harry Potter
tweeted something about it. And then I read it and after 2 months of reading, I
finally watched the movies and I was immediately in love with the characters. I
kind of like it, because it’s something you can dream about. I know that it is not
realistic, but imagine if it was real. I love it, because you can cry about it too. It’s
not only fights scenes and weird non-realistic stuff, there are also scenes that are
really emotional.

Author

Who's the author? Try to find some interesting information about the author:
where is the author from, has he/she always been a writer, when did he/she
start to write books? Etc.
Have you read any other works by this author?
Did you know this author before? If so, how did you get to know the author?

The author is J.K. Rowling or Joanne Rowling, is a British
novelist, screenwriter and film producer best known as the author of the Harry
Potter fantasy series. Rowling was born to Peter James Rowling, a Rolls-
Royce aircraft engineer and Anne Rowling a science technician on 31 July
1965 in Yate, Gloucestershire, England, 10 miles (16 km) northeast of Bristol.
She has a lot of books that are actually about Harry Potter, like the rules of
Quidditch in a book and then books about Hogwarts and about Fantastic Beasts.

Genre

What type of book is this? Fiction, nonfiction, biography? How do you know? In
other words, what are the main characteristics of this type?
What types of people would like to read this kind of book?
Do you typically read these kinds of books? Do you like theme? Why or why not?

It is Fiction, because there are things that not exist like: Magic, Unicorns, Trolls,
… The books are actually really old, but still it is really cool. I think that
everybody can read this, for the most of the humans Harry Potter is there youth.

, I never read something like that before, but in November 2016 I watched
‘Fantastic Beasts: Where to find them?’ and that’s a sort of spin-off from Harry
Potter. But then only was it like 100 years ago. I watched it and I was in love with
it. I really like Harry Potter, it’s fun to read and watch it. Because you get
obsessed with it and you shout then all the spells than you know. I have actually
a wand from Bellatrix (a death eater) .

Title

What does the title do for you? Does it spark your interest? Does it fit well with
the text of the book?

Harry Potter and the Philosopher Stone. If you read the book, then you can say
that it suits the story. [SPOILER ALERT] Because Voldemort wants to live forever
and if he had the stone, he can do that. But deep under the castle of Hogwarts,
teachers used spells to protect the stone. If you read the title in Dutch, then it
sounded boring. But when I read the same one, but then in English. The title was
cooler to me.

Pictures/Book Jacket/Printing

What does the book jacket or book cover say? Is it accurate? Were you excited to
read this book because of it?
Are there pictures? What kinds are there? Are they interesting? Why or why not?

Book cover Film cover

By the cover of the book and the film, you cannot see what it is about. But still I
think that the book cover and the film cover are the same, only they’re more
people on the film cover. I was not excited to read to the book by the cover. I
remembered little things of the film and my sister told me to read it first, because
there are scenes in the book that they don’t do in the film.
