Alle levende wezens verrichten de volgende basale functies:
- Reactievermogen
- Groei
- Voortplanting
- Beweging
- Stofwisseling
Differentiatie = Naarmate dergelijke meercellige organismen zich ontwikkelen, specialiseren
afzonderlijke cellen zich zodat ze bepaalde functies kunnen vervullen, soms ten koste van
andere functies.
Stofwisseling = Alle chemische reacties in het lichaam.
Respiratie = De opname, het vervoer en het verbruik van zuurstof door cellen.
Anatomie = ‘opensnijden’ is de studie van inwendige en uitwendige structuren en de fysieke
relaties tussen lichaamsdelen.
Fysiologie = Studie van de manier waarop levende organismen functies verrichten.
Anatomie:
- Bij macroscopische anatomie worden kenmerken onderzocht die met het blote oog
zichtbaar zijn.
- Bij microscopische anatomie worden structuren bestudeerd die niet zonder
vergroting zichtbaar zijn.
De verschillende organisatieniveaus:
Chemisch niveau
Atomen, de kleinste stabiele bouwstenen van de materie, verbinden zich met elkaar tot
moleculen met een complexe vorm.
Celniveau
Verschillende moleculen vertonen interactie, zodat grotere structuren ontstaan. elk type
structuur heeft een specifieke functie in een cel. Cellen zijn de kleinste levende eenheden in het
lichaam.
Weefselniveau
Een weefsel bestaat uit cellen van hetzelfde type die specifieke functie uit te voeren.
Orgaanniveau
Een orgaan bestaat uit twee of meer verschillende weefsels die samenwerken om een specifieke
functie uit te voeren.
Orgaanstelselniveau
Organen werken samen in orgaanstelsels.
Organismeniveau
Alle orgaanstelsels in het lichaam werken samen om het leven en de gezondheid in stand te
houden.
