In this assignment I will be explaining the pressure of the competitors on two
contrasting business organisations to develop their use of E business. I’ll also
explain how businesses have handled the pressure of the competitors to use
internet for their business. At last I’ll explain how the business has benefited in
preparing for the growing use of e-business. The two businesses that I will be
using are Tesco and Sports Direct

Tesco:

Product

There’s lots of pressure on Tesco when it comes to its product. Because if the
product is of not good quality or is not worth the money than it will just fill up the
shelves, as the product will not be sold. To benefit from its product Tesco should
make sure the prices they offer online and in-store should be compatible to
customers or cheaper than in-store pricing. As this will diversify its customers
from store to online shopping, this will make the life much easier. Tesco should
make sure the price is cheaper or compatible to other retailers like Asda. As well
as to make sure the product is of good quality so that it’s worth the money.

Tesco has taken the threats very seriously and has made tremendous efforts in
order to overcome its rivals. Tesco has offered lower prices, as well as buy one
get one free online or by click & collect, even if they have narrowed their profit
margin. They also have diversed their sales by adopting clothing in their outlets;
this means that Tesco is targeting the clothing market as well by offering low
prices for their brand.

Price

Tesco has been very successful as they are able to keep dynamic pricing with the
quality of their products. That’s the reason behind Tesco’s success, as otherwise
the customers would’ve preferred some other place where they can find the
price cheaper. So Tesco is the most successful online business which has very
good offers while shopping online than in-store. Tesco is the only retail store
which has the cheapest prices online and of good quality. Tesco also provides
customers with great satisfaction as they provide additional warranties for their
products such as Television for a very low price.

Tesco is one step ahead of its rivals as they provide more for the money they
receive from its customers. Such as a Bicycle “Rally 3250 “costs £220 at Tesco
where as in Asda the same bicycle costs %270. Tesco provides this product even
cheaper when customers shop online at a price of £200. Asda however does also
provide insurance for its products, but it’s limited to certain products and is
expensive than Tesco. Asda also has more terms and conditions for the insurance
whereas Tesco has an easier approach in regards to the terms and conditions.

Place

1

, The greatest challenge all the organisations face is to convert their customers
from its stores to online official website of Tesco. The reason behind people not
using online websites can be described as annoying, irrelevant and lack of
security during payment. Tesco however does provide accurate and appealing
information on their website.

The prices offered online are cheaper than in-store and Tesco is cutting the
irrelevant information from the products and are making the payments more
secure. Tesco is also providing online shopping with the least click to process
their orders than other website and customers receive more points on their club
card when they buy products online which helps them to save even more.

People

The people who provide service to its customers are really important for an
organisation. So in order to recruit good staff members, organisations like Tesco
should be quick as others organisations would be on the hunt as well. A great
difficulty is finding the right person for this job, as other organisations are also
hunt for expert staff members which can accommodate and help the
organisation for a future success. Even the current employees will move away
when they have a better opportunity to make more money, so Tesco has to keep
an eye on their rivals so they can be one step ahead.

As the staff members are looking for a good wage rate and good working
conditions, Tesco can ensure its staff members of a good salary and good
working conditions which are not dangerous for them. Tesco should also improve
their way of advertising for staff recruitment as some people find it difficult to
apply online, as the questionnaire is long and people get tired of it. Once a
suitable person is found for the job then Tesco can have a contract with him that
will enable him to work hard towards its target as well as providing excellent
customer service all the time. By having a contract the person would be bound to
work for Tesco even if he gets a better opportunity as he have to follow the
contract.

Promotion

Tesco needs to make sure that when a new product is launched, Tesco is the first
one to introduce it as they want to draw the attention of customers to shop with
them. Customer trends are noticed with great momentum and customers are
sent recommendation for the products they might be interested in. For example
a women would be recommended beauty products. Tesco should also come up
with new plans so they can be customer’s favourite choice.

Tesco has provided accurate, realistic, eye-catching materials on their website
that is helping them to increase their online sales. Besides customer trends are
being recognised and are emailed the recommendation to them, which makes
their life easier as they cant forget anything. For example if a women is looking
for nail polish, she will be recommended with different types of nail polish
followed by lipstick etc.
