BIOS 252 Week 7 Case Study Assignment: Thyroid | GRADED A+ | Chamberlain College of Nursing
Week 7 Case Study: Thyroid Week 7 Case Study: Thyroid The thyroid and its associated hormones affect every cell and all the organs of the body. They also regulate the rate a t which organs are burned, affecting weight loss or weight gain. Thyroid can also slow down or speed up the heartbeat. A goiter is an abnormal enlargement of your thyroid gland. As the thyroid gland becomes more damaged, it is less able to make adequate supplies of thyroid hormone. The pituitary gland senses a low thyroid hormone level and secretes more TSH to stimulate the thyroid. This stimulation causes the thyroid to grow which may produce a goiter. I believe that the patient is presenting with hypothyroidism which in result of an underactive thyroid gland. When the gland produces too little thyroid hormone it is stimulated to produce more thus leading to the swelling. The reasoning behind thinking that the patient has graves’ disease is due to her having the symptoms of her feeling like the triage room being hot when it is normally cold. Her seeing blurry and sometimes having double vision. With having these occurring symptoms it is the reason of me believing to have graves’ disease. References .
