One-to-one communication
One-to-one communication is when one person speaks with another
individual. This can be between two care professionals or with relatives of
those receiving care. It is important because it allows them to take turns at
talking and listening which creates a positive atmosphere where the best
communication can take place, also it allows the child to keep full
confidentiality within the space without becoming embarrassed and
withholding vital information from you. A particular child may be
uncomfortable at working in a group and so it is much better for their
communication skills to have it one-to-one instead.
Group communication
Group communication is slightly different to one-to-one communication as it
occurs with a group of three people or more, rather than just two. It can be
used during a teachers meeting or a classroom discussion, and allows people
to open up as they are surrounded by people who share similar backgrounds.
Creating the perfect, positive atmosphere is crucial while using group
discussion as the atmosphere allows everyone to open up and gain something
from the group whereas a negative and toxic atmosphere would break down
the communication within the group until there is no progress within
education, Different types of communication such as sign language or Makaton
may be used in this case to allow everyone the same treatments.
Multi-agency communication
Multi-agency communication occurs when care professionals have to
communicate with colleagues who work for different organisations – in this
