CN VIIIEl CN VIII, o nervio vestibulococlear, transmite información sensorial especial,
relacionada con el equilibrio y la audición, desde el oído interno hasta el cerebro.
El nervio vestibulococlear emerge lateralmente en el ángulo pontocerebeloso, que es
la unión entre la protuberancia, la médula y el cerebelo. Una vez que emerge del
ángulo pontocerebeloso, entra en el meato acústico interno, donde se separa en sus
dos ramas: el nervio coclear y el nervio vestibular.
