Samenvatting H15 Emotie en persoonlijkheidEen emotie kan vastgesteld worden door het bestaan van:
- Emoties hangen samen met subjectieve gevoelens
- Emoties gaan gepaard met lichamelijke veranderingen (hartslag,
ademhaling etc)
- Emoties brengen gedachten teweeg. (Als je je down voelt, zie je de
wereld een stuk negatiever)
- Emoties gaan gepaard met verschillende actietendenties/-
mogelijkheden.
Emoties zijn een reactie op de stimuli uit onze omgeving. Deze stimuli
kunnen op dat moment in werkelijkheid plaatsvinden, maar ook in onze
fantasie of denkend aan een moment in het verleden of de toekomst.
Charles Darwin focuste in zijn boek The Expression of the Emotions in Man
and Animals op de functieanalyse van emoties en expressie (= de
waarom). Volgens hem had de evolutie niet alleen invloed op de
lichamelijke ontwikkeling, maar ook op de geest.
Emotionele staat => Is tijdelijk en heeft meer te maken met de situatie,
dan met de persoon zelf.
Emotionele eigenschap => Een patroon van emotionele reacties die
een persoon steeds laat zien in verschillende levenssituaties.
Er zijn twee verschillende benaderingen van emotie:
1. Dimensionale benadering
Gebaseerd op empirisch onderzoek, emoties zijn ervaringen. In deze
benadering gaat het meer om hoe men de emotie ervaart, dan hoe
men denkt over de emotie. Mensen beoordelen zichzelf op
verschillende emoties, waarna er statistische technieken op worden
toegepast om de onderliggende dimensie te ontdekken.
2. Categoriale benadering
Aanhangers proberen alle complexe termen voor verschillende
emoties te herleiden naar 4 primaire emoties: bang, boos, blij,
bedroefd. Echter is er veel discussie over welke criteria gebruikt
moeten worden.
Ekman vond 6 primaire emoties: blijheid, verbazing, angst,
woede, treurigheid en walging.
Waar men het wel over eens is, is dat de meeste studies emoties
categoriseren o.b.v. plezierige/onplezierige emoties & hoge/lage
opwinding.
