The first business I chose for functional areas is Tesco. Every business needs
functional areas because to meet their objectives they must go through all their
functional areas in order to achieve their objectives successfully.
Tesco’s first objective is to maximise sales.to increase their sales they would
have sell a variety of different types of products, more developed items at a
price customers would feel satisfied which could lead them to buying it and offer
customers the best value for money at the most competitive prices. The
functional areas work together in order to meet this target by first starting with
the Marketing and Sales department, to check and discuss how much each item
should be sold, if the price is a reasonable amount and if customers would
actually buy the product for that same price.
They will then speak to the customer service department to get them to do a
serve on the amount customers will spend money shopping at their store. To do
this Tesco customers get given a club card and this is done through the club card
to gain what their customers like to buy.
They will have to create many different types of advertisements because it will
make customers aware of offers in order to bring more customers into their
shops but they will have to create more than just one type of advertisement.
They will then need to show things such as promotional offers, for example 2
Litre milk could cost £2.00 but they could do an offer such as ‘buy one get 2 Litre
of milk for free.
They should think of every type of customer though such as teenagers,
teenagers before going to school usually go to stores and buy energy drinks or
sweets to give them energy, because many teenagers buy energy drinks by
putting the price low, many more teenage students will come and buy them
because they know it’s cheaper than other areas but again it has to be
advertised so will people be wear about the reduced price, by doing this could
increase the profit.

The second objective is find a way they have to meet customers satisfaction is
by going through all the functional areas possible to achieve this objective. This
means that Tesco wants to improve their customer’s wishes. Making sure the
company meets the wishes of the customers so the customers can come to the
store knowing what they want to buy is stock, particularly if Tesco is their local
store, customers wouldn’t want to go anywhere else far when they can find what
they want in their local store. To get a good idea of what customers want both
research and development will need to get to work because they can find out
using data and records of what customers usually need and what they usually
buy, the customer service department would then create a questionnaire or a
survey in order to find out from the customer that usually shop at the store. After
finding out the results of what the customers need, the production department
and the distribution department will need to be updated so the production
department can make more of what they already have in the store and
customers want and then after it being produced, then distribution department
would need to share it in all the different branches of Tesco. Once all the products
have been sold, the finance department will have to handle the money and make
sure it is all in good hands, as many people buy it, it will bring money to Tesco
and that’s how their business runs.

point of the objective is to advance technology so this means they will mostly
need the ICT department to improve this and take advantage of the department.
For them to increase progress they will need to include the research
development department, to increase growth, they will need to research what
could help them increase it, the amount of customers are increasing. With either
