Human resources (HR) are employees within a business that are managed/ monitored. The better the
human resources management the more effectively a business will operate. Human resources
management includes, recruiting employees, providing resources for the recruited employees,
monitoring employees, training and developing them and retaining them.
Recruiting the right people means taking in employees with the required skills to do a specific jobs or
prior experience to that job, failure to recruit skilled people results into failure of operation, that is why
businesses must be very careful when recruiting people resulting into it becoming a lengthy process that
needs time and proper analysis. For example if a hotel business, example Morena Hotel, recruits an
employee with no communication skills to become the front desk receptionist who’s main job is to
welcome customers and be able to hold a conversation with them, Morena will be impacted negatively
(people may not want to come back to Morena as they have experienced an awful introduction to the
hotel and that means its accommodation has slacked right from the start) just because of their failure to
recruit an employee with the needed communication skills, this is why it is essential to recruit the right
people with the required skills and to constantly monitor them. The monitoring process is to ensure that
the recruited employees are actually fit for the job and to know if the business has done a
positive/negative thing by recruiting them, an employee may have the acquired skills but over some
time they start to slack and not use their skills effectively, for example a receptionist at Morena is hired
with great communication skills, the business must monitor the receptionist to ensure they are
consistent and talk to all customers politely. If a business fails to monitor their employees regularly they
will be unaware of a lot of things and the business may suffer without them knowing the reason behind
it, which is why monitoring regularly is important for businesses to know if recruited employees are
doing their jobs effectively. Providing employees with needed resources and equipment to do their job
also falls into HR management and it is equally important. Human resources need required equipment
to do their job, an organization or business must provide these equipments for efficient work or safe
work, it is important for them to identify that most skills of an employee need equipment to be put into
work. For example if an employee’s skill is communication skills than they required equipment for them
would be a working telephone to put these skills into work. Equipments can also be needed for safety
measures employees who work in loud areas, say miners may need something to protect their ears for
damage, this management is critical and supported by law as the safety of an employee at work, doing
work is under the management. Thus physical resources support human resources and are essential in
HR management because without them there is failure of operation or failure of execution of skills.
Training and developing employees knowledge is also critical in HR management as the working
environment is constantly changing, for example innovation of new technologies and new laws which
could all lead to drastic changes to the working environment, therefore why employees must always be
kept to date as a way of retaining them and not needing to recruit more people to do simple work.
Retaining employments is very important to businesses because if businesses lose employees they have
to go through the whole recruiting process which is an important procedure that needs a lot of analysis
and interpretation as I have prior explained, and so businesses train, develop and monitor their
employees as procedures to retain them, monitoring can help in knowing what an employee is doing
, wrong and what can be done to support them or fix their wrongs and ensuring that all human resources
are doing their work effectively which hopefully leads to a business’s success.
In conclusion HR management is very critical to all business as a way of ensuring that everything is
running smoothly that can lead them to the success of the business and not its failure. HR management
includes, recruiting employees, providing resources for the recruited employees, monitoring employees,
training and developing them and retaining them. If all these are done effectively than a business is one
step forward to more success as how they manage their workspace is as important as what the business
does for the public.
