Driving on toxicThe watermark has risen 20 centimeters in the last century and over 25% of the organisms
have suffered from the consequences of a slight rise of the temperature. All this is because
of the enhanced greenhouse effect. The enhanced greenhouse effect is a development of
the earth caused by humans, it is the consequence of burning fossil fuels for instance. This
process releases harmful gasses in the air and it has a bad impact on the environment. The
use of fossil fuels should be forbidden.
Firstly, fossil fuels should not be used, because fossil fuels are not durable. There is no new
supply of fossil fuels, accordingly there is a limited amount and when all of it is drawn from
the earth, eventually there will be nothing left. This can be seen in the natural gas and
petroleum that is taken out of the ground in Russia. There are astonishingly big fields where
the natural gas and petroleum is taken out, but there is no new supply for those fuels. Thus
with the passing of time the resources will be exhausted.
Additionally, the fossil fuel combustion makes sure that the enhanced greenhouse effect is
even stronger. The process that gets the energy out of the fossil fuels, contains burning the
fuel. With that procedure there are gasses that are excreted, for example carbon dioxide
(CO2). An example of a ramification of this procedure, is that the earth is heating up. Because
of the CO2 emission, the atmosphere is reflecting more heat back than it naturally would.
Because of this temperature rise, the ice in for instance the Antarctic is melting. The melting
of these ice caps can lead to a rise of the watermark. Countries that are below sea level can
suffer from severe flood disasters, that are caused by the rise of the temperature. For this
reason, fossil fuels should be replaced with a process that is more durable.
Although the use of fossil fuels has bad results for the environment, the industry thrives on
fossil fuels. They cannot be simply taken out of today’s industry. Many factories and people
rely on the energy that comes from fossil fuels. In instance of this, a company like Shell is a
company that processes the petroleum. To complete these processes, there are machines
and these machines need fuels and energy to work. This energy can be obtained from the
process of burning fossil fuels. Fossil fuels are simply necessary for a country’s industry to
thrive and therefore cannot be forbidden.
Even though todays industry relies on the fossil fuels for energy, another source of energy
can be found. Research has shown that cars can drive on electricity or that there can be fuels
made out of hydrogen. These processes do not contain the burning of fossil fuels, so there
would not be any CO2 emission. Some cars that drive on electricity have already been
developed. For example Audi, Fiat and many other companies have developed cars that are
no longer in need of fossil fuels. Because of this eco-friendly, durable replacement, fossil
fuels are no longer needed for the industry or any other causes.
In conclusion, fossil fuels are necessary in today’s industry for many reasons, but in the
future there can certainly be more durable sources for the supply of energy. The first steps
have already been made for a more eco-friendly way of for instance driving your car. Once
the mechanism and process is fully developed, the fossil fuels are no longer necessary and
they can be replaced and forbidden.
