3) Hormonen
Hormoonklieren geven sappen af aan het bloed, dit zijn hormonen (signaalstoffen die de werking van het
lichaam regelen). Geslachtshormonen regelen verschillende aspecten van de voortplanting (ontstaan van
secundaire geslachtskenmerken, stimuleren van productie van zaadcellen, regelen van menstruatiecyclus,
invloed op gevoel).
De hypofyse (geeft stimulerende hormonen af
die andere hormoonklieren beïnvloeden) is
een hormoonklier die ongeveer in het midden
van je hoofd ligt, direct onder je hersenen. De
hypothalamus (werkt als regelcentrum) is een
deel van de hersenen dat direct boven de
hypofyse ligt. De hypothalamus geeft releasing
hormonen (RH) af. Deze stimuleert de
hypofyse en die maakt weer
follikelstimulerend hormoon (FSH) en
luteïniserend hormoon (LH). Deze hormonen
regelen onder andere de productie van het geslachtshormoon in de testes en de ovaria.
