1.1 Het belang van leren omgaan met complexe teksten
- Bij close reading staat tekst centraal en niet het leren van leesstrategieën
- Verdiepend lezen van complexe tekst zorgt voor winst in leesresultaten bij gevorderde en risico
lezers
- Door te werken met complexe teksten kunnen leerlingen uitgroeiend tot meer ontwikkelde
lezers en schrijvers van teksten bij meerdere vakken

1.2 Het beoordelen van de complexiteit
- bij analyse tekst kwantitatieve en kwalitatieve aspecten belangrijk
- Kwantitatief —> kan worden geteld bv. Het aantal lettergrepen
- Kwalitatief —> gaat over taalniveau, de wijze waarop begrippen worden uitgelegd,
structuur tekst, stijl schrijver en bedoeling schrijver
- Ook kijken naar derde dimensie van tekstcomplexiteit: de lezer/taakfactoren
1.3 Tien vragen over sekscomplexiteit
Wat leerlingen moeten kunnen
- F staat voor fundamentele niveau (1F tot 4F)
- 1F is einde basisschool —> Het niveau van een vaardigheid zoals ten minste 75% van de
leerlingen die nu waarschijnlijk beheerst in basisonderwijs
- Leerlingen die 1F voor einde basisschool halen worden uitgedaagd op 1S niveau
(S=streef), komt overeen met 2F niveau

Tekstcomplexiteit
- tekstcomplexiteit heeft invloed op moeilijkheidsgraad van tekst
- Close reading gaat ervan uit dat leerlingen goede lezers worden door het lezen van steeds
moeilijkere wordende, uitdagende teksten

Kwantitatieve kenmerken
- kan worden geteld, zoals lengte zin, aantal lettergrepen in woord, woordlengte, aantal keren dat
woord voorkomt
- Kwantitatieve kenmerken belangrijk om leesbaarheid vast te stellen
Leesbaarheid
- door tekstkenmerken (zoals woord lengte-frequentie en zinslengte) in een formule te doen —>
met score uit leesbaarheidsformule kan moeilijkheidsgraad en begrijpelijkheid van tekst worden
vastgesteld en vergeleken
- CLIT (Cito leesindex technisch lezen)
- 2 variabelen die score bepalen: woordlengte en percentage hoog frequente woorden,
score geeft aan hoe moeilijk tekst te lezen is
- CLIB (cito leesbaarheidsindex)
- Geeft aan hoe goed kind begrijpt waar tekst over gaat of hoe moeilijk tekst te begrijpen is
- AVI-niveau
- Geeft aan hoeveel technische vaardigheid nodig is om tekst te kunnen lezen
- 12 AVI-niveaus
Beperkingen van een kwantitatieve analyse
- complexiteit alleen op kwantitatieve gegevens bepalen heeft beperkingen
