Introduction:

Hybrid working is a term that is being used a lot nowadays, after the breakout of covid-19
virus. The time when a lot of companies had to find creative ideas to continue the normal
daily schedules of most employees, without seeing them in person. The term has the
following meaning “Hybrid arrangements balance the benefits of being in the office in
person — greater ability to collaborate, innovate and build culture — with the benefits of
quiet and the lack of commuting that come from working from home.” (Barrero et al, 2021).
The old working days have returned and the meaning of “Hybrid working” has changed since
(Barrero et al, 2021). According to Barrero et al. (2021), employees must plan their workday
in advance and carefully select the most appropriate workspace (office or at home) based
on activities when using hybrid working. According to Teodorovicz et al. (2022), there are
some advantages people learned after the pandemic by using a hybrid WFH approach. First,
employees avoid having to commute and prepare for work on home days; second, home
working is often better for individual-focused activities; third, WFH allows greater time
flexibility; and fourth, hybrid WFH can reduce space costs if firms rotate the days when
teams work from home (Bloom et al, 2015).


Proposition:

Since the outbreak of covid-19 hybrid working has influenced a lot of people’s lives including
mine. When I was working on my second internship during my bachelor period, I got
involved in hybrid working from home. Working from home was completely new for me,
and I wondered how other people experienced it. Experience will have influence on how
you work, being at home all the time made me lazy. However, I also found some benefits in
it, since I would do anything to complete my work as fast as possible to get a longer lunch
break. Out of experience I would like to analyse the following proposition:

- The employee benefits from hybrid working by the effect of increasing satisfaction
and productivity.

Argument 1:

According to Van den Boogert (2022), his research showed that satisfaction with physical
features and experienced support of activities strongly relate to perceived support of
productivity in the home and office work environment. He stated that there is a correlation
between them. Likewise, job satisfaction and perceived productivity might be positively
correlated (Judge et al., 2001) and could be of interest for determining the employees’ self-
assessed productivity. Workplace satisfaction focuses more on the physical features and
facilities of the workplace, it accounts for nearly 25% of overall job satisfaction (Brill &
Weideman, 2001; Sundstrom et al., 1980). So, productivity and job satisfaction are powered
by physical features and facilities in the workplace environment.
