• OPP = beschrijven, verklaren en voorspellen van afwijkende gedraginen en processen door de tijd
heen
o ~ bestuderen van afwijkende ontwikkeling
o Gaat niet alleen over wat pathologisch is en wat niet, maar men gaat ook proberen verklaren
en voorspellen hoe kinderen met bepaalde risicofactoren kunnen ontwikkelen en hoe die
behandeld kunnen worden
• KLOP (klinische ontwikkelingspsychologie) = sta verder
o Op grond van OPP komen tot voorkomen en behandelen van psychische problemen bij
kinderen
o OPP is onderzoeksdomein van KLOP

• OPP klinische psychologie

• Alle gedrag (sociaal, emotioneel en cognitief) heeft een neurochemische en neurologisch substraat →
bestuderen van (neuro)biologische correlaten = belangrijk
o Reductionistisch, want hij denkt dat alles verklaard wordt door basisiniveau (genen), maar
het is niet omdat je ervan uitgaat dat elk gedrag een neurochemisch/neurobiologisch
substraat heeft dat alles hierdoor verklaard kan worden
