Een antigeen is een eiwit dat door het afweersysteem herkend wordt als
‘lichaamsvreemd’
(cf. zelfherkenningseiwitten hfdst celleer)
- virale eiwitten
- bacteriële eiwitten
- eukaryote eiwitten (schimmels, parasieten, maar ook menselijke eiwitten
van iemand anders: vb. kruisreactie tussen bloedgroepen (zie hoofdst
bloed)
en daardoor in staat is een reactie van het afweersysteem op te wekken (waarbij
antistoffen = antilichamen = antibodies (ab) worden aangemaakt, zie verder)
1.2. AFWEER
Afweer = Geheel van verdedigingsmechanismen ter preventie van het binnendringen van
micro-organismen en ter uitroeiing ervan
met telkens een cellulaire component en een humorale component
- cellulaire component = celsoorten ter verdediging
- humorale component = eiwitten in het bloed en/of de secreten ter
verdediging
2. AANGEBOREN/ASPECIFIEKE AFWEER

Ø Aspecifiek = maakt geen onderscheid tussen de ene en de andere bedreiging
Ø Mechanismen zijn van bij de geboorte aanwezig
Ø Het doel is verhinderen dat M.O. of schadelijke stoffen binnenkomen en/of zich
kunnen verspreiden in het lichaam.
• 1e lijnverdediging = barrières aan de buitengrenzen van het lichaam (= ter

• 2e lijnverdediging = meteen of snel inzetbare verdedigingscellen en eiwitten
in weefsels en bloed
