Learning Aim D - Review of personal development of scientific skills for laboratory work
P7 - Summarise key personal competencies developed in relation to scientific skills
undertaken
Skills i developed through the dr.Korsorou’s class
Skills at start of unit 2 skills after unit 2 skills to develop further
- Comparison-classific - making standard - making standard
ation solutions solutions
- Communication - Calibrate weight - Knowing and using
- Recording data - Knowing and using experimental
- Measurement experimental equipment
- Observation equipment and (remember the
tools names of them )
- Collecting - Clarify the task
information and - Interpret the results
data
- Draw correctly
graphs
- Calculations of
tangents in the
graph
- Interpret the results
- Clarify the task
Practical skills
Responsibility played a very important role when proceeding with the experiments in
class, since we had to be very careful and patient with each of the practices.
We had to work with the instructions that dr.koursarou gave us in class, these
instructions were clear, we also followed the standards and protocols of these
instructions. in these instructions they also indicated the precautions of the experiments
and the safe work without any damage to our health, working safely.
, Also for the titration experiment I developed the skill of making standard solutions,
following the correct instructions of dr.Kousourou.
I learn how to calibrate different types of equipment and substances. For the experiment
of calibration I developed this skill and improved my knowledge of the equipment of the
laboratory.
Also for this experiment I learn and know how to use experimental equipment and tools.
The communication in the experiments was really important to improve because with
good communication we can work properly and talk about the results and the
improvements we need to do. We use the communication to cooperate with each other,
because in all of the assignments we need to discuss the results and the accuracy of
each of them, and also this was helpful to get security on each other. When I was not
sure of my results, I got it from the practicals we talked about with other colleagues to
have some guidance and security. Also we received good feedback from dr.Koursarou,
and she was supportive to give some guidance of the experiments.
For the cooling curve and titrations, I developed the skill of how to draw correctly graphs
of them. And I improved by the feedback of the teacher, also she helped me to give me
the values of the titration practical. For the cooling curve she gives us feedback on how
the graph is gonna be. Another skill of the cooling curve was the calculations of the
tangents in the graph.
For every experiment we need to interpret them and clarify them. I didn’t know how to
interpret every experiment, but I learned how to do research and read and analyse and
compare the content with the experiment. Also I learn how to interpret my results and
explain them with the research and analyses if the result was accurate.
