NR 505 Week 3 Discussion: Quantitative Research – Collaboration Cafe (GRADED)
Week 3: Collaboration Cafe Article Title: Are the studies on cancer risk from CT scans biased by indication? Elements of answer from a large-scale cohort study in France Purpose To answer this week’s assignment, I chose the above listed research study. The purpose of this study assignment is to further research the topics related to my PICOT interest question and critique the selected article by determining the strengths, limitations, and potential application. My PICOT question is: In children and young adults, is the use of reduced dose of radiation exposure of computed tomography (CT) decrease the changes of cancer in comparison to higher dose during their lifetime? Upon reviewing the article, the researchers used a quantitative study design to analyze how one variable affects others over a period of time. The aim of this quantitative study was to determine if the increase exposure of computed tomography (CT) scan during childhood or adolescence did indeed cause cancer and examine how cancer predisposing factors affect the assessment of radiation related risk.
