Algemene opbouw somatisch vs autonoom zenuwstelsel:

somatisch ZS:
- bewuste waarneming
- uitvoeren van willekeurige bewegingen
- integratie van opgenomen informatie
- aansturen van skeletspieren

soma van betrokken neuron op spinaal niveau
→ rechtstreekse axonale uitloper naar de
effectorcel (vb: skeletspier)

eerst soma op spinaal niveau
→ uitloper (niet rechtstreeks), maar naar
tweede autonoom neuron
→ vanuit tweede neuron dewelke soma
vaak in ganglion (cluster van neuronen) zijn

zenuwuiteinde
→ zenuwuiteinde gaat de effectorstructuren bezenuwen
