- ruilmiddel
gebruiksmiddel om goederen en diensten te kopen of verkopen.
- spaarmiddel/beleggingsmiddel
niet consumeren = sparen → bouwt vermogen op.
beleggen:

aandelen → dividend
of via onroerend goed, kunst, postzegel verzameling etc.

waarde goederen/diensten is uitgedrukt in geld.

prijsvergelijking in buitenland wel lastiger door de wisselkoers.

Het geld dat gebruikt wordt als ruilmiddel en dat in handen is van het publiek
(Nederlandse ingezetenen en bedrijven) noemen we de maatschappelijke
geldhoeveelheid
maatschappelijke geldhoeveelheid = al het chartale en girale geld in het van het
publiek.
(Geldscheppende banken -dat zijn banken waarbij je een rekening-courant kan
hebben- horen niet bij het publiek. Het chartale geld van deze instellingen wordt
dus niet gerekend tot de maatschappelijke geldhoeveelheid).
Spaargeld hoort ook niet tot de maatschappelijke geldhoeveelheid
omdat je er niet mee kunt betalen.
Chartaal geld = contant/stoffelijk geld → munten en bankbiljetten.
Giraal geld = bedragen op bankrekeningen die men kan gebruiken voor
overboekingen. → overboeken, pinnen, creditcard, chipknip.
Let op: GEEN!!!! niet direct opvraagbaar spaargeld!!!
