Bij het mogelijk maken van dagelijks handelen sluiten ergotherapeuten aan bij de wensen van cliënten en hun
omgeving. Dit vraagt om empathie, flexibiliteit, creativiteit, meedenken, probleemoplossend vermogen en een
bepaalde benadering
HET GEBRUIK VAN JEZELF (USE OF SELF)
Het gebruik van jezelf is beschreven als het bewust gebruik maken van je eigen reactie in de relatie met de cliënt.
Het wordt ook wel gedefinieerd als een bewust, selectief of intuïtief gebruik van de eigen mogelijkheden en
karakteristieken om de interventie effectiever te maken. Er zijn vijf elementen bij use of self: empathie,
authenticiteit, reflexiviteit, samenwerken en ondersteunen.
