Midterm Exam Study Guide Hum. 103: Mythology, Fall 2019Specifics of the Exam:
The midterm exam is worth 100 points and will over Chapters 1-7 and Chapter 11, including the Definition
and Function of Myths, Ways of Understanding Myths, and the Creation and Destruction Myths.
The exam will be comprised of two sections: 1) multiple choice and fill in the blank questions worth 70 points,
and 2) one short essay question worth 30 points that requires a focused response that begins with an
introduction that includes a statement of your position/purpose (thesis) for writing; a body of support that
explains your reasoning for your position (thesis, purpose for writing) and offers specific examples from the
myths we’ve read in the past weeks to support your thesis (purpose for writing); and a conclusion that
provides a final statement on the significance of your position (thesis, purpose for writing) on the question.
