EXPERIMENT 4
FORCE AND WORK
OBJECTIVE
To determine the relationship between the angle of inclination to the forces and their work done during a
uniform motion.
PROCEDURE
1. Access the simulation package thru
https://www.physicsclassroom.com/Physics-Interactives/Work-and-Energy/Its-All-Uphill/Its-All-Uphill-Interacti
ve .
2. Using the value assignment of mass for your group and the different angles, run the simulation to determine
the needed applied force to move the object up on the frictionless inclined plane at constant speed at a
constant height of 1 meter.
GROUP NUMBER MASS (kg)

4 2
5 3
6 4
3. Record the value of the applied force and measure the displacement covered on the frictionless inclined
plane using the ruler on the screen.
4. Calculate the work done by the applied force and weight component (opposite to the applied force).
5. Using MS Excel, plot the following graphs for each force: force versus angle and work versus angle.
Determine the average slope of each graph.
