My grade was 100%.
1. Watch the trailer from Victor Frankenstein on YouTube
(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2vqNOZIbIRM)
Who was Frankenstein? Describe him based on what you have seen.
Victor Frankenstein was a scientist, but not a normal one, he does the
unthinkable. He has major goals for the future, including bringing people
back to life.
He is a man who goes for what he wants, no matter what it costs.
2. Read the section from the graphic novel.
How and when do Victor’s feelings about his experiment change?
His feelings immediately changed when he completed his mission. The
creature was made alive. His dream changed into horror. He regretted
what he did. The creature wanted to grab Victor, but he ran away. He lives
in fear now, afraid of what will happen. He also has very bad dreams.
He describes this living creature as hell now.
3. Read the section from Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein.
a. Create a timeline of Frankenstein’s scientific endeavours.
, Asking himself questions + focusing on the branches of natural philosophy
that relate to physiology
Figuring out how death
works
Study the science of anatomy + observe the natural decay and corruption
of the human body.
Examining the cause + course of death
Managed to discover generation and life and even able to bring inanimate
matter to life.
b. Determine if the graphic novel remains true to the original text.
Proof your answer with elements taken from the texts.
The graphic novel is not completely true. The part about him finding a
friend in monsieur waldman is not mentioned. He didn’t smooth the path
of knowledge for him. He had to do that himself. Frankenstein investigated
it himself.
He was indeed interested in anything that lived, but particularly the
structure of the human frame.
In the graphic novel, Frankenstein examines the cause and course of
death first, before he studies the science of anatomy. But in the original
story, it is the other way around.
