In this P I will be explaining what relationship marketing really is and I will describe why it’s important
to develop relationship marketing within a company. in the following assignments I will be using the
company KLM I will use KLM in this particular P for examples, I will be looking further into KLM in the
upcoming assignments.
What we mean with relationship marketing is that an company builds up an certain relation with its
customers. This is interesting for an company because if you have a good relation with an customer
the chances increase that that customer will buy
your product regularly. An company can improve the
chances to get an good relationship with its
customer by having a good customer service, friendly
personnel, good customer service and so on. In case
of KLM they have to offer the best flight experience
as possible on their site1 they say that they want give
refreshing products for customers and that they
want to give an save, efficient and service oriented
flight experience with attention for nature.

There are many good reasons to develop relationship marketing first there is the reason that it’s
hard to attract new customers because there are a lot of the same products on the market so it’s
difficult to get new customers because the customer often choses
for a good price and a fast delivery (in case of aeroplane companies
it’s often good service and a good experience). That’s why it’s hard
to get new customers and why it is so important to maintain the
customers you have. For instance if I want to fly from Amsterdam to
New York on 5-02-2016 and want to fly back on 15-2-2016 you have
a lot of options3 to choose from. You can choose to fly with Turkish
Airlines for a price of €465.72 but you will probably have a tight
space for your legs and you will be on the way for about 18hours.
But with KLM you will pay ab it more about €770 but you will
probably have better leg space and you will fly there in little over 8
hours. So the KLM offers better spots in the plane and a shorter
flight time but you will pay more, so then it’s up to the customer
what to choose.
