For this P4 I will be explaining how Harrods gets cooperation of its employees. Tis section will include
the contract employment as well as the different employee involvement techniques that Harrods is
using.

The main contracts that Harrods may use are Permanent contracts, Full-time contracts, part-time
contracts, zero hours contracts and finally temporary contracts.
Permanent contract: this contract is one of the most used today. In this contract are things like
payment, work conditions, if you get a company car etc. This contract needs to be accepted before
the companies go on with other kinds of contracts. So this contract consist of basic information
about what you will get when working for Harrods. I think that this is the most important contract
because it gives Harrods and the new employee a good few about what to expect from each other.
Full-time contract: this contract is offered the most of the time to people that have been working for
Harrods for a long time. With this contract an employee will from 30/35 hours a week (this verifies
between companies). This contract is mostly given to employees that have been working for a long
time at Harrods because Harrods can’t stop the contract before the time of the contract is over, so
Harrods will take huge risks if the give a new and young employee a full-time contract. I think this is a
good contract for Harrods to use because Harrods can give people this contract if they want to have
this certain employee working at Harrods for a long time. It also gives the employee stability
because he knows that he can’t be fired before the term is over.
Part-time contract: this contract is basically the same as the full-time contract except for the
amount of hours that an employee works with a part-time contract. With a part-time contract an
employee will work for about 15-20 hours a week. A part-time contract can be given to just one
person but also to two persons when Harrods decides to give it to two persons these two employees
will work together the time of a full-time contract but they divide it between each other and therefor
it’s a part-time contract. I also think that this is a good contract for Harrods to use because it gives
young employees a chance to grow into Harrods, and it also provides them with stability. For Harrods
it can also have a bad site to it because you can’t fire someone without a valid reason when you have
given the employee this contract.
Zero hours contract: this contract is there to give employees more flexibility, this provides them with
more flexibility because the employees are only paid for the amount of hours that they work. This
contract is often given to employees that still do school because it’s easier for them to cancel work.
Zero hours contracts are also used a lot in the retailer business, so the business that Harrods is in.
this is because on days that the store is quiet employees can get a call from Harrods telling them that
they aren’t needed at work today. I think this contract is very good for young people because it gives
them a chance to work and not worrying about school because work is easy to cancel.
Temporary contracts: these contracts are often used within Harrods because Harrods has a lot of
stands that may go to another companies within a couple of weeks. Therefor temporary contracts
are very handy because Harrods can make a contract based on the time that e certain stand is in
Harrods. I think this contract is very good to use for Harrods, because these contracts provides
Harrods with flexibility because it offers them a chance to put another stand in the store after a few
months.

Now I will be explaining the different employee involvement techniques that Harrods uses to involve
their employees in the company. Harrods uses five employee involvement techniques, the first one is
