in this M1 I will explain how HR planning is needed to make sure that the organisation has employees
with the right skills, knowledge and liabilities to fulfil its purpose. To do this I will explain what skills
and which knowledge is important within an organisation. I will also explain what the consequences
are if an organisations hasn’t got these skilled people with the amount of knowledge they want.
The skills of employees are really important within a accompany like Harrods. This is so important
because they, as sales people need to give as much information to their customers as possible. But
the people that have to run Harrods also need to have a certain amount of skills. The bosses of
Harrods need to have skills like being good to communicate, have to be good in planning, have to be
good in speaking and presenting etc. they have to be good in communicating because they need to
send the good information to the people below them. They also need to make sure that the
information that they give is properly received. Good planning skills are also important because they
need to be able to have their tasks done before the deadline. They also need to make sure that their
team where they are responsible of have their tasks done at the right time. The speaking and
presentation skills are important for explaining things to the employees. They also have to be good in
presenting because when giving a good and lean full presentation everybody will remember what
you said.
The HR planning makes sure that people within a team have the right skillset. To do this HR managing
trains people, look at their resume while herein new people. When certain people within a team
don’t have the right skillset but Harrods still wants to hire them they can offer a certain amount of
training. The skills needed within a team can change trough the impact of automatization or that
Harrods decides to sell other and/or new product. Harrods also look in your resume when you have a
job interview and they ask you what skills you do and do not have. Through this way of herein they
can determine if they want you within the business because of your skills or if they want to offer you
a training to gain these skills.
It’s very important as I said earlier to have the right skills within a team. But what happens within a
team at Harrods when people don’t have the right skills. What will happen within a team is that the
team won’t do their work properly. The team will for example be work with handing in their work
because they have to ask a lot of information to colleagues that do have that skillset. They also can’t
perform what they are ask to do. To make sure this doesn’t happens Harrods only hires people that
do have these skills and otherwise they will offer a training as said earlier to the people that don’t
have the skills they need to work at Harrods.
