But before we really know who he is, we hear the advice that he got from his father: "Whenever you feel like criticizing anyone, just remember that all the people in this world haven't had the advantages that you've had." 2)Nick introduces us to the setting: New York City and the twin villages of West Egg and East Egg in Long Island.
