[Exordium] Nederland is een tolerant land. Wij accepteren je om wie je bent en laten iedereen in hun
waarde ongeacht seksualiteit of identiteit. Menig Nederlander zal hard ja-knikken wanneer je vraagt
of ze het hiermee eens zijn. Maar is Nederland wel echt zo tolerant? Of doen we alsof?
Niemand wil zich verschuilen achter een masker, omdat hun ware aard niet geaccepteerd wordt.
Niemand wil later dat hun dochter huilend thuiskomt van school, omdat zij gepest wordt vanwege
haar seksualiteit. En niemand wil te horen krijgen dat hun kind ongelukkig is, omdat niemand hen
begrijpt. Steeds meer jongeren geven aan dat zij zich ongehoord of onbegrepen voelen als het gaat
om seksualiteit of gender. Dit komt door de huidige heteronormatieve samenleving waar wij in leven.
Wanneer je bijvoorbeeld op straat mensen hun mening vraagt over homoseksualiteit of
genderdiversiteit, dan is er altijd een grote groep wereldverbeteraars die zegt: “Ja, tuurlijk accepteer
ik homo’s! Maar ik hoef dat gedoe niet op straat te zien, hoor.”
