provide an affordable and flexible way to learn new skills, advance your career and
deliver quality educational experiences at scale.
Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) represent a very addition add to the
learning environment. Highlighted that these courses are the newest form of open
educational resources advancement (Al-Rahmi et al., 2019). Massive Open Online
Courses (MOOCs) are available for all and open to all students globally to learn for
varied reasons: including career development, changing careers, college preparations,
supplemental learning, lifelong learning, corporate eLearning & training, and more.
A Study conducted by Alhazzani (2020) on MOOCs is based totally on four major
principles of Siemens Connectivism: (1) Compilation, in which educational files appear
on the web page each week, providing an overview of the subject. These documents
are the starting point for discussions, such as shared interactive dialogue, modules,
video files, and links. All of these materials are collected and published on the page and
sent by e-mail or uploaded to a drive. Anchored to an approach in which the
fundamental difference between MOOCs and face-to-face classes where content is
prepared at an early stage of the course. (2) Modification, developing a general
background of the course, the learner collects files from within and outside the session,
compiles them on online drives or their personal computer, and organized orderly. (3)
Re-employment is the stage where the learner first studies the material, and then adds
their particular opinions of the content and what they comprehend, using the course’s
forum, discussion online forum, and other MOOC platforms. (4) Dissemination of
distinctive ideas is where the exchange of views and content with other participants
within the course.
The significance of MOOCs is that they provide the experience and environment
of open-ended online courses which have enabled participants from different countries
to join international universities and benefit from distinct programs and courses offered.
