, Introduction

In this assignment I will be discussing an events management company called Alive
Pty Ltd that specializes in event planning and management, product launches and
corporate events. The discussion below will look at the Action Research Model, the
advantages that internal consultants might face with the entry process specifically
with the entering and contracting stage, the ethical dilemmas that the project might
present as well as setting out a proposal for Alive Pty Ltd.

Question 1

1.1 Eight Steps in Action Research Model

Action research is traditionally aimed both at helping specific organizations
implement planned change and at developing more general knowledge that can be
applied to other settings. Although action research was originally developed to have
this dual focus on change and knowledge generation, it has been adapted to OD
efforts in which the major emphasis is on planned change.

There are eight main steps.

1.1.1 Problem identification.

This stage usually begins when an executive in the organization or someone with
power and influence senses that the organization has one or more problems that
might be solved with the help of an OD practitioner (Cummings , et al., 2020)r.

The executive suspects that the organization has one or more issues that could be
resolved with the help of an OD practitioner. The entry phase begins with contact
between the consultant and the client. Following contact, the consultant and client
begin the process of exploring the possibilities of a working relationship. As a result,
the CEO of Alive (Pty) Ltd contacted the internal OD consultant for assistance in
redesigning the organization and improving supporting processes. As a result, this
step has been followed.

1.1.2 Consultation with a behavioural science expert.

During the initial contact, the OD practitioner and the client carefully assess each
other. The practitioner has his or her own normative, developmental theory or frame
of reference and must be conscious of those assumptions and values. Sharing them
with the client from the beginning establishes an open and collaborative atmosphere
(Cummings , et al., 2020).

1.1.3 Data gathering and preliminary diagnosis.
