Wat is globalisering precies?: Globalisering of mondialisering is het proces
waarbij op een groot aantal terreinen de verwevenheid tussen gebieden en
samenlevingen op aarde toeneemt
Globalisering heeft met aardrijkskunde te maken omdat het proces invloed
heeft op de inrichting en de functie van gebieden.
Globalisering wordt mogelijk gemaakt door
- Transporttechnologie: Dat gaat over alle technologie dat nodig is om het
vervoer van grondstoffen, goederen en mensen mogelijk te maken
- Informatie- of communicatietechnologie: Dat gaat over de uitwisseling
van informatie
Sinds 1990 zijn drie ontwikkelingen van belang
1. Reis- en vervoerstijden zijn spectaculair gedaald
2. Transport en communicatie zijn goedkoper geworden (Dat komt door
het toenemende capaciteit van schepen/vliegtuigen en de komst van
containers)
3. De infrastructuur rond transport en dataverkeer is enorm verbeterd
De ontwikkeling waarbij tijd en ruimte als het ware in elkaar worden gedrukt,
