Kalimantan is the third largest island in the world. This island is crossed by the
equator which gives the privilege of having high rainfall, temperature and humidity

Other Names of Borneo Island. Kalimantan has various mentions that refer
to this island. Western literature calls Kalimantan with Borneo which comes from
Brunei.
This assumption is because the Sultanate of Brunei, which is located on the
north coast, used to control most of the western and northern regions of the island
of Borneo. The book Negara kertagama written by Mpu Tantular in the 14th
century once alluded to the island "Nusa Tanjungnagara" which is thought to refer
to the Kingdom of Tanjungpura in Kalimantan. In local language, Kalimantan
means the island of many rivers. This understanding comes from the word Kali
which means River and Former which means many. Thus, Kalimantan earned the
nickname as the island of a thousand rivers.
Geographical Conditions The area of the island of Kalimantan is
approximately 743,330 km2 with the southern boundary being the Java Sea, the
Karimata Strait to the west, the Makassar Strait to the east, and Malaysia to the
