1. Trigonometric ratios:



The three basic trigonometric ratios are sine (sin), cosine (cos), and tangent (tan). They are defined as
follows:



sin θ = opposite/hypotenuse
cos θ = adjacent/hypotenuse
tan θ = opposite/adjacent

Here, θ represents the measure of an angle in a right triangle, and opposite, adjacent, and hypotenuse refer

to the lengths of the sides of the triangle.


For example, consider a right triangle with an angle θ, an opposite side of length 3, an adjacent side of

length 4, and a hypotenuse of length 5. Then, we can calculate the sine, cosine, and tangent of θ as

follows:


sin θ = opposite/hypotenuse = ⅗
cos θ = adjacent/hypotenuse = ⅘
tan θ = opposite/adjacent = ¾




2. Pythagorean theorem:



The Pythagorean theorem states that in a right triangle, the square of the hypotenuse is equal to the sum of
the squares of the other two sides. That is:



c² = a² + b²


Here, c represents the length of the hypotenuse, and a and b represent the lengths of the other two sides.
