17/A. P1 Explain how the purpose of a mobile app and the needs, preferences and
characteristics of the user affect its design and the provided features.
There are three kinds of mobile apps: native, web and hybrid.
Native apps
Native apps are particularly developed for mobile phones as they directly install on mobile
phones. There are many Pros and Cons of native apps. An advantage of programming an app
this way is that it can deliver swift and responsive software performance. Additionally, native
apps are known for containing multiple functions because of utilising the capabilities of a
fundamental device e.g., 3D touch on iPhones. But it has a disadvantage which is that it cost
money and time and developer have to build and manage application for each platform.
Web apps
Web apps are very different from native apps as they are the type of software that give the user
a permission to interact with a distant server through a web browser interface. An advantage
for these apps is that it doesn’t require to be downloaded but here comes the disadvantage
which is they cannot be accessed or utilised without internet connection. Other advantages of
web apps are that they are highly scalable, plus doesn’t require a lot of money for software
development. Additionally, they are secure and perfectly suitable for data storage.
Hybrid apps
Hybrid apps are a mixture of both native and web apps. Developer use programming languages
like CSS, HTML5 and JavaScript when making hybrid apps, to produce an app with these parts
inside to create a native app. Hybrid apps are quite famous due to permitting developers to
write a code for mobile app once and still assist various platforms. Because hybrid apps add an
additional layer among the source code and the targeted platform, which makes work slightly
slower sometimes. An advantaged of hybrid app is it will work on various platforms. However,
an app may appear different from platform to platform. Additionally, it can operate online and
offline and cheaper to develop.
features, purpose, and context of mobile apps impact on their design, development, and use.
Locale (Maps)
Maps really affect the design of the mobile app such as a gaming app. Maps can really impact
the game in a positive way. For example., pubg, maps play a huge part in it and makes the user
attractive to the game and helps to make the game more realistic.
