Main Post Discussion Week 3 Pathophysiology of Acute Pain Pain is felts by an individual when there is an underline issue or health condition within the individual’s body. Acute pain is also known as nociceptive pain which is experienced promptly indicating that something unfavorable is going on in the body that needs urgent attention (Huether & McCance, 2017). When a person suddenly experiences acute pain, it indicates that there is an ongoing activation of the peripheral pain receptors that is transmitted by A delta and C fibers. (Huether & McCance, 2017). With acute pain, an individual experiences it off and on, meaning that it occurs and stops lasting from several minutes to several days depending on the underline issue and in some cases it could last up to 3 months and results in physical symptoms of elevated heart rate, anxiety or high blood pressure (Huether & McCance, 2017).
