From 28th June 2022 Differential treatment of refugees - Section 12 of the Nationality and Borders Act 2022.

Group 1 Refugees:
- Came directly to the UK from a country where your life was threatened.
- Presented w/o delay to authorities
- Can show good cause for unlawful entry or presence
- 5 year status, access to work and public funds, eligible for settlement after 5 years, right to family reunion.

Group 2
- Temporary protection status
- Renewable every 2.5 yrs on a 10yr route to settlement
- More limited family reunion
- Access to work and public funds
- Have 10 days to respond on decision, they can request an extension
Subsidiary Humanitarian protection has also been downgraded in line with temporary protection status.
