Unit 6: Work experience assignment.
P1
Skills: a quality, like communication skills, that you may develop and learn from training and
practise.
4 skills and attributes I already have:
My skills:
Communication skills - communicating with the service user and their loved ones in a form they can
comprehend while also taking the time to listen to and recognize their requirements. I would indeed
be capable of communicating with many other healthcare experts as needed in addition to patients.
There are several forms of communication abilities, including verbal I always make care to speak
with correctness, truth, and clarity. Additionally, it's essential that I get to understand my customers
so that I can communicate to them in a manner that corresponds to their age, culture, and degree of
health literacy. I'll be mindful of my manner of speaking if I'm angry or annoyed to prevent these
emotions from affecting how I interact with the client. "Can you elaborate on it for me a little bit?" I
use open-ended questions to urge service users to speak freely. I utilise the person's first or
preferable name rather than insulting pet phrases like "sweetheart" or "darling." I refrain from using
technical jargon and speak in clear, detailed terms to preserve professionalism. Building rapport also
requires attention to non‐verbal elements including posture, facial expression, body movements,
actions, and voice tonality. A great difference may be made by a simple smile. I show my
engagement in what the service user is talking about by keeping eye contact and nodding my head.
Smile, but avoid staring. I will take a seat when I can and move forward to show that I'm listening. To
show warmth, apply non-aggressive body gestures. You can give importance if you have the ability
to actively listen. Hearing with the goal of understanding the service user's situation is referred to as
"active listening." The best and most productive style of listening calls for full focus and
participation. In addition to clinical nurses, and other healthcare professionals who desire to
promote loyalty and dedication amongst their staff might benefit from this skill. Active listening calls
for both verbal and nonverbal communication abilities. Writing skills are also necessary for effective
colleague to colleague interaction. As a nurse, it will be my responsibility to create and update the
service user's medical record. To ensure that my service users receive the best treatment possible, it
is crucial that their medical records are accurate and valid (up to date). Additionally, maintain
patient privacy in consideration. So that you don't miss something, I'll accomplish this by making
notes immediately away following each client visit. Write legibly and simply in basic words. Make
sure to write down date and time.
Observation skills - to identify the danger signs of a patient's worsening health This can not just be
completely physical; it might also point to an emotional change, like the start of depression. Strong
observational skills are a must for skilled nursing assistants. These help doctors create a successful
treatment strategy, which in turn helps patients receive the highest care and preserve their life. My
capacity to notice, understand, and remember my surroundings while through five of my senses is
,referred to as my observational talents. This approach is frequently linked to mindful awareness
since it makes it easier for me to be there and conscious of the details of my everyday life. Good
example of observational skills need a variety of other talents and traits, such as communication.
The word "emotional intelligence" refers to an individual's capacity for critical thought. the focus on
details. There are many various skills and habits that might affect one's ability to observe, such as t
The terms "communication" and "emotional intelligence" relate to the capacity for critical thought
and paying attention to small details, and piece of information.
Teamwork skills - clearly communicating as a team and working with one another. Good
collaboration necessitates effective leadership, incident management, communication, and
group solidarity. The provision of patient care involves teamwork. To take good care of
the patient, each professional in the healthcare setting must collaborate effectively. The
team may comprise outstanding individual nurses or doctors who are more experienced,
and more knowledgeable, but the team must also function well as a unit to help service
users. Teamwork requires effective communication, incident management, leadership, and
helping one another, among other things. Cooperation, and also effective communication
also does happen to lower the chance of service user damage but also increase staff
engagement. They provide a positive feedback: if you operate in a good quality team which
effectively communicates and empowers you to speak openly, you would be pleased at
your workplace. In many situations, a nurse has to know when to speak with a doctor
regarding a service user's medical needs as a component of the treatment plan.
Problem-solving skills - To resolve a problem, one must acquire information, and
independent thought is required to be able to apply that information to come up with an
answer. To do their duties effectively, nurses are said to need to develop certain skills.
Individuals with problem solving skills can handle unexpected events or difficult jobs at
workplace. In companies, there is a significant need for those who can effectively recognise
problems and provide effective solutions. All kinds of issue solving skills are required for
many vocations, and also involve technical skills that are job specific. The registered nurse,
for instance, will require solid technical knowledge of ailments and medications in addition
to active listening and effective communication while interacting with service users.
I approach every task with ambition and dedication. Whether it's academic work or actually
assisting someone, I won't let up until my task is done to standards. I said that I work best
under pressure, and interestingly enough, when I'm under pressure, I perform effectively.
Examples of occasions when I'd had to meet deadlines would be when I had quite a lot of
coursework, homework, and study to complete in a short period of time ensuring that all of
my work met criteria. I would indeed be able to problem-solve right away and take
appropriate action if a patient was experiencing a breakdown of any kind.
, Additionally, I am a really kind and compassionate person, which will help me develop
strong professional relationships with patients and give them the confidence to discuss any
additional issues they may be having. If there was someone who was having trouble talking
without an advocacy, I would be able to recognize since I am incredibly skilled at
communicating, understanding people, and listening to them. I can speak fluent Bulgarian,
which further enhances my communication abilities and allows me to communicate to and
comprehend them quite well. When required, I would be able to interact with other medical
experts in addition to patients. I can lead a group of people and follow directions well. I also
do well in groups.
In a multidisciplinary team where interaction is crucial to giving appropriate patient care,
this might be advantageous to my co-workers since I will be able to interact with them. As a
person who wishes to pursue a career in social work, I will interact with many different
experts, and poor communication can significantly worsen the patient's situation. In
addition, observation skills might benefit both patients and professionals. If I recognise
someone is in need of assistance, I will be able to provide so, and if I detect anything in a
patient that the other specialists didn't, I will be capable of letting them know. Practical
skills, which may help my co-workers and those around me, will make them feel secure that
they are performing in a clean and sanitary atmosphere and allow them to do tasks more
quickly and smoothly, which could aid my co-workers in effectively completing their tasks.
My colleagues' concerns could be at peace since I am ambitious and highly motivated, and
with the correct motivation, my task could be completed quickly. Being able to handle
pressure is also highly advantageous for my colleagues since, in addition to patients, even
health professionals may have difficulties. If this happens, I will be able to help them and
maintain as much composure as possible.
Additionally, if a client was ever to lose control and get irritated while under stress, the
other expert would be under additional stress. Finally, being fluent in the language
Bulgarian might help me communicate with patients who also speak that language more
effectively.
During my job experience, I could pick up two skills: time management and organisation. I'll
need to manage my time in order to handle my schoolwork, driving tests, university
interviews, and work experience. Along with making an effort to be on time for everything, I
also meticulously plan my week. Having up to five courseworks due within the same month,
interviews for universities, and helping my family, stress management is another ability I'll
develop. Due to the extreme stress, I wasn't able to find a coping technique that worked for
me until I started getting more organised. I was further in control of the situation since I had
everything planned out.
