Dublin. Hij heeft op de hogeschool in Dublin gezeten en op de universiteit van East
Anglia. Hij studeerde Engelse literatuur en creatief schrijven in Dublin. Tijdens zijn
tijd in Dublin werd zijn eerste werk gepubliceerd. Om in zijn onderhoud te voorzien
werkte hij overdag in de boekhandelketen Waterstone's, terwijl hij tot laat in de
avonden aan zijn boeken werkte. Het boek “De jongen in de gestreepte pyjama” is
het bekendste boek geworden van hem. Wereldwijd zijn er meer dan 5 miljoen
exemplaren daarvan verkocht. Ook zijn daar de filmrechten van verkocht. John
Boyne heeft in totaal zeven romans en een aantal korte verhalen geschreven. Hij is
