1. Participles
- Present participle
 Gebildet mit Infinitivform und Endung -ing  reading, writing, watching, …
 Verwendung in progressive-Zeitformen (present progressive, past
progressive, …) und nach Verben der Sinneswahrnehmung (verbs of
perception) sowie nach Verben der Ruhe und Bewegung (verbs of rest and
motion)
- Past participle (=Partizip Perfekt/2)
 Gebildet mit Infinitivform und Endung -ed  remembered, liked, amused, …
 Unregelmäßige Verben! see – see, swim – swum, read – read, go – gone, be –
been, have – had, do – done, get – got, fly – flown, eat – eaten, lay – laid, …
 Verwendung in mit Perfekt gebildeten Zeitformen (past perfect, present
perfect, future perfect etc.)
- Participle as adjectives
 Beschreibt Nomen näher (increasing stress, vandalised quarter) oder ergänzt
Verben (es exciting and intriguing, feels scared)
 Present participle: aktiver Vorgang (increasing stress = stress is increasing)
 Past participle: passive Vorgang (the hotel is abandoned = the people/guests
