Las actuales serpientes surgen de un
proceso que parte desde los lagartos.
Estaban constituídas por 4 patas con sus 5
dedos respectivos, una cabeza y una cola.

Con el paso del tiempo, algunas serpientes
preferían más reptar que caminar por lo
que empezaron a dejar de usar sus patas.
Al dejar de usarlas, estas se atrofiaban e
iban desapareciendo. Las siguientes
generaciones aparecían con menos
extremidades cada vez hasta que
completamente desaparecieron ya que
eran incómodas y no las necesitaban. Esto
era lo llamado uso y desuso.
