Theory 1: Situated learning theory by Jean Lave and Etienne Wenger

Situated learning theory is based on the idea that learning occurs through
participation in authentic activities within social and cultural contexts. This
theory emphasizes the importance of social interaction and collaboration in
the learning process. According to Lave and Wenger (1991), learning is not

context in which it occurs. This theory is helping me as a preservice teacher
to become a better teacher in several ways.
Firstly, it has helped me to understand that learning is not just about

practice. As I prepare to become a teacher, I need to be aware of the social
and cultural contexts in which my students will be learning. I need to be
able to create a learning environment that is collaborative and fosters social

authentic activities in the learning process. As a preservice teacher, I need

understanding of the subject matter.
Finally, situated learning theory has helped me to understand that learning
is an ongoing process that occurs throughout life. As a teacher, I need to
create a learning environment that supports lifelong learning and
encourages my students to continue learning beyond the classroom.
Theory 2: Experiential learning by David Kolb (1976)
Experiential learning theory is based on the idea that learning occurs
through experience and reflection. According to Kolb (1976), learning is a
four-stage process that involves concrete experience, reflective observation,
abstract conceptualization, and active experimentation. This theory is
helping me as a preservice teacher to become a better teacher in several
ways.He argues that individuals learn best when they can apply their learning to real-world
situations and reflect on the outcomes of their actions.
As a preservice teacher, experiential learning theory has helped me to understand the
importance of providing my students with opportunities to learn through real-world
