P3 – DESCRIBE HOW SOFTWARE &
NETWORK SECURITY CAN KEEP
SYSTEMS AND THEIR DATA SECURE
BY GEORGE MIZEN
, AUTHENTICATION METHOD:
MFA (MULTI-FACTOR AUTHENTICATION)
MFA requires two or more independent ways to
verify a user. An example of this is a website requiring
you to create a password as well as enter a unique
authentication code that was sent to your phone
before you can create the actual account.
Although MFA adds multiple layers of security to a
system, it has its own disadvantages; people may lose
their phones making them unable to receive the
authentication code and log-in to their
account/system. Another method of MFA is 2FA
(Two-Factor-Authentication), which is basically the
exact same method as MFA.
