Passive Immunity Protection that is transferred from one animal (or person) that has a specific antibodies to an antigen that the recipient may not have and the antibodies are transferred as performed antibodies. This transfer can take place through the placenta, the mother's colostrum (first milk), a blood plasma transfusion, or an injection of gamma globulin. Active Immunity Refers to the development of antibody protection in response to vaccination or natural infection.
