Executive Summary
The purpose of the recommended curriculum is to give a chance to the nursing students to get
involved in online learning other than just attending classes physically. The growing technology
has enabled this in the 21st century. A literature review has been provided that insists on using
technology to allow nursing students to learn remotely via e-learning. The emerging technology
is expected to raise the collaboration between the teacher and the student and also provide an
excellent avenue for making formative learning opportunities within the ongoing oversight from
their respective nursing educators.
A technological gap was detected during the need assessment period, and a recommended
solution includes an integration of an e-learning platform to bridge the learning gap. Some
proposed recommendations closed the gap between the currently used technologies and the
upcoming technologies to achieve the desired outcome. All the stakeholders, including the
nursing students, were involved in generating the advantages and the shortcomings of
implementing the new technology.
The weakness and the strengths within the learning institution were examined, and the
stakeholders devised good strategies to achieve the desired outcome. The strategy involved the
use of Lippitt's change theory, where all its seven phases aligned so well with the recommended
technological change since it dictated how the nursing process in the community could be
affected by such changes. The stakeholders also offered conflicting strategies to overcome any
possible barrier during the implementation process. Technology is being incorporated in every
aspect of life, and hence future nurse educators need to embrace these changes to allow a smooth
transitioning within the nursing technology. Technology has to be incorporated into the academic
training and the entire nursing curriculum.

Emerging Technology Curriculum Proposal
Using Virtual Technology in Remote Learning Environment
The purpose and the rationale of this proposed technological change are to offer the
students a particular software application that will ensure that the nursing students can continue
pursuing their education from their remote areas. This technology advancement provides an e-
learning environment. The recent interruptions offer in-class learning, which is why students can
adopt the changes that facilitate remote learning. Cases such as the emergence of Covid-19 may
prevent physical learning since nursing students have to maintain a social distance (Foronda et
al., 2017). The e-learning technology can help control the spread of such infectious diseases by
allowing students to learn remotely.
The applied theoretical framework is known as the Lippitts change theory since it aligns
with the proposed technological changes and addresses the entire nursing process (Foronda et al.,
2017). It shows how the nursing process gets affected by these changes and utilizes all the seven-
step processes to navigate the changes. According to Lippitts, the seven phases include problem
diagnosis, accessing motivation, assessing the agent change in resources and motivations,
selecting the various progressive change objectives, choosing appropriate change agents, and
terminating help relationships. The theory helps establish the organizational model that relates to
the projected technology (Mitchell, 2017). The process usually starts by diagnosing the problem
and progresses via other steps that organize the work and the proposal. It also involves working
with other stakeholders to establish a successful implementation of the entire project.
The curriculum proposal has the ultimate purpose of providing a mode of learning that
enables students to pursue their courses remotely. Many barriers prevent people from attending
physical learning, and hence this technology might help. If there is any interruption of the

physical learning, the software and the technology would be available to help the faculty and
students offer quality nursing education. This e-learning technology and related software
applications are supposed to be integrated into the “The Role of the BSN Nurse in Promoting
Community Health” course.

Evidence Summary
The educational environment is becoming so dynamic as technology advances, and
hence this literature review will consider how technology-facilitated distance learning in the
nursing education system. Many articles highlighted various advantages of adopting virtual
education and e-learning to bridge the gap and provide remote learning. The recent events are
pressurizing educators as they were requested to create platforms that could uphold e-learning
platforms. According to Bezerra, et al, (2020). All the educators were challenged to adapt
curriculums that ensure the continuity of learning even after face-to-face learning was demanded
after Covid-19 emerged. People were supposed to be isolated, and physically, the social distance
was a problem since nursing institutions were unprepared for such events. The article describes
the challenges encountered during the implementation of remote technologies (Bezerra, et al,
2020). The book offered an opportunity that expanded the debate regarding the use of remote
technologies in various health education and later evaluated the ability of diverse learning
institutions to provide e-learning and hybrid of in-person in a remote-learning platform (Bezerra,
et al, 2020).
