Assignment 2 has to be in English, Assignment 1 is easier in English too.

Student-led presentations: 1 hour.

Assignment 1
 Paper is related tot he themes discussed in the course
 It’s an academic paper, informed by scientific literature
 In which you take a particular position as an author with repsect to the main theme
 You show understanding, are actively involved with it and take your own position towards it
 At least 5 sources
 Address at least 2 different perspectives

Example themes
 The voice of youth and child labour: Is child labour against the children’s rights?
 The voice in youth in school: To what extent can children participate in decision making in
schools?
 The voice of youth in family issues: What voice should children have in family life?
 Other topics could be: youth activism, youth in urban areas, youth in research, the voice of
refugee youth, etc.

 Introduciton of theme (200 words)
 Social relevance (150 words)
 Perspectives (2) and literature (500 words)
 Conclusive statements: your own substantiated opinion (150 words)
 Reference list
 Reflection (100 words)
 Choose 2 of the key concepts
Put your theme for assignment 1 on the list in teams before next week.

Assignment 2
 Scientific paper and advise for Speaking Minds
 Explore secondary school students’ ideas on having their voice heard on climate issues
 Their ideas on how their voices can best be heard
 Gain insight in what climate issues they are mostly interested in to be involved with
You can choose different kind of target groups, think of the location of the schools.
1 respondent per student, 20-30 minutes. 3600 words is maximum.

that is trying to participate in their own way, but it isn’t viewed as normal by society. So it needs to
be more bottom-up, and together with youth needs to be decided what is needed.
