Reusch are a gloves company, they manufacture winter and skiing gloves and they alsomanufacture goalkeeper gloves. Their goalkeeper gloves are worn by some great
goalkeepers such as Hugo Lloris and Wojciech Szczęsny. Reusch are a very reputable
company in the footballing world and are know for their environmentally friendly methods of
manufacturing.
Reusch was founded in 1934 by Karl Reusch and has over 85 years of experience in the
glove field. He made his first pair of gloves by hand in the attic of his house. 1972 marked
the first pair of professional Alpine Skiing gloves made by Reusch. In 1973 Reusch
collaborated with a German Goalkeeper by the name of Sepp Maier. In 1989 the first
Reusch Skiing apparel was launched and 3 years later marked the first sports collection of
apparel. In the early 2000’s
Reusch have a number of sustainability measures in place, such as they no longer use un-
reusable packaging on their goalkeeper gloves (I got a pair for Christmas and the only
disposable packaging is a thin layer of plastic to protect them, otherwise it is just a mesh bag
with a zip) another thing that they do to improve their sustainability is that they do not
officially (this does not include other distributors of Reusch products) ship any of their
delivery’s by air or on an aeroplane. They only will deliver shipments by a combination of
shipments and this has reduced their carbon footprint by a huge amount.
Reusch also support many climate projects across the world such as the 300MW
hydropower projects (this is more commonly know as the “Baspa” project) this has saved
around 1,052,463 Tons of carbon emission per year. They also support the Guanaré Forest
Plantations which is 21,298ha of land that were previously deforested or rendered
inhabitable by previous natural incidents. This has saved 127,416 Tons of carbon emission
per year.
Another thing that Reusch do to reduce their carbon footprint is that Reusch have decided to
cut down on the PFC in their products and have stated that their new products will be
manufactured with a PFC free shell material.
Going back to the Guanaré Forest Plantations, some of the things this project enforces are
as follows: No poverty, Quality education, Gender equality, Reduced inequalities, Decent
work and economic growth, climate action, and finally last but definitely not least, life on
land. No poverty is down do the fact that this project will creat more than 1,000 jobs. Quality
education is due to the fact that the Guanaré Forest Plantations Will create high quality and
stable jobs in an area of Uruguay that have increasingly high amounts of poverty. Gender
equality is because of the fact that unlike previous industries in the region, the Guanaré
Forest Plantations Project will have many employment opportunities for women, which will
help stabilise families in the region. Decent work and economic growth will improve because
it is predicted that production per unit area will increase by 6 to 8 times more than the
previous industries, which will cause a rise of demand and interest in certain goods and
services. Inequalities are reduced massively because the Guanaré Forest Plantations
Project contributes to the reduction of the population migration from the are that this project
is taking place, which will help solve one of the main social problems in this country. Climate
action is supported because the project stores large cam mounts of carbon dioxide, the
estimates say that the project has and will save over its lifetime a total of 7,644,96 tons of
