1. Compare the results of your personal time allocation to
your ideal time allocation. Are you close to your ideal
allocation? If not, what factors are affecting your use of
time?
2. Based on what you’ve read this week, what strategies
can you use to more effectively manage your time? Be
sure to identify at least three time management strate-
gies, and describe how you will apply them.

Where does the time go?
To answer this question, I had to complete the activity from the textbook “where does the
time go?” Following the completion of the questions, the text states that those “who often can’t ac-
count for how they use all their time, may have a more relaxed attitude” (College Success, 2015),
and I can see instantly this describes me perfectly. I sometimes have a laid-I back attitude, but come
to the end of the week I feel there are not enough hours in the days. I used to spend more hours in
the day procrastinating or browsing the football websites than I care to admit. I'm quite fortunate in
my job, that I work for only 2 or 3 hours each day, and most of my day time is spent caring for my
daughters, but this sometimes goes against me. For example, I can sit down to “rest for 5 minutes”
and 2 hours fly by. I can't describe it, and I don't know where the time goes, but it has happened fre-
quently in the past. I like to keep busy, and it helps me to keep a track of time. When I stop, I seem
to lose control of the time.
As I've matured, I feel I've taken back many of the lost hours of the day and I don't procras-
tinate so much. Ideally, I should keep myself busy throughout the entire day to avoid wasting time.
There are multiple strategies from the reading assignment (College Success, 2015) that can
be used to help manage your time, but the one I find most effective is doing the important things
first. I'm a big admirer of completing the big jobs earlier in the day and getting them out of the way,
