Beauty magazines should stop photo-shopping models

In today's society there are different believes and thoughts on photoshop. Should photoshopping in
magazines be banned? Many magazines photoshop their photos to make the models look perfect with their
ideal body, immense white teeth and awless skin. Due to the unrealistic expectations of beauty that these
magazines spread it is hard for ( young ) people to be con dent about their features and it makes them feel
very self-conscious. Photoshop should be banned for three reasons: it creates an unrealistic idealism, it causes
body image issues and self esteem problems and lastly people should embrace a model's beauty without
photoshop.

There are also a few reasons why photoshop can not or should not be banned. People are free to do whatever
they please with the images they take. Magazines can decide for themselves if they want to use photoshop or
not.
On the other hand creates photoshop an unrealistic idealism by making everything prettier than it is in real
life. They try to create the 'perfect picture' with the 'perfect body' by using lots of photoshop while that is not
what the people want to see. Young woman want to see realistic and inspiring pictures. They want to see
pictures of people they can look up to, who have a beautiful ( natural ) appearance without any drastic
changes created by photoshop.

The second reason why it should not be banned is that photoshop is a form of art. Art is an expression of the
artist itself. For example some magazines can make their extravagant make up better online in stead of doing
it in real life or they create some sort of vibe by using photoshop which is hard to achieve in real life. These
are ways of photoshop that are unharmed and used for good things. Photoshop is a great program that can
x lighting, backgrounds and completely change the mood of an image. It can create amazing photos.

In an article from The Buchtelite they say that photoshop on models conceives low self esteem problems and
body image issues for people and especially younger woman. Younger woman overall spend a lot of time on
social media and they see lots of unrealistic pretty woman who display the perfect image. "These types of
photos lead us to believe that beauty can only exist in an unachievable body type; that it is even remotely
healthy to look like the models in the photos we see. It teaches us that it is appropriate to try to hide our aws
at all costs instead of embracing them.
Hours spent at the gym and extreme dieting can’t even create the image that photoshopped pictures do. Yet
young women and girls are led to believe it can be because of what they see on the covers of magazines day
after day." ( Alexa Lago, 2013 )
We need to spread more body positivity and normalize models without photoshop, this will increase the body
positivity and self esteem of people. Banning photoshop in magazines would be a huge step in the right way.

A con for photoshop is that they use it to get rid of unwanted aws of the
models. Some models might not want to see themselves in magazines with their
aws untouched. In this way photoshop is used to increase the model's
con dence.

On the other side the photoshop world should support and respect the model's
beauty without any changes to make them look perfect. An article on pixels
blog report that Zendaya Coleman posted an Instagram post after she found
out that Modeliste Magazine photoshopped her photo with the caption
“shocked when I found my 19 year old hips and torso quite manipulated,” and
that images edited in this way “create the unrealistic ideals of beauty that we
have.” ( Aaron Horwath, 2016 )

In conclusion there are three ways why photoshop should be banned:
Photoshop produces an unreasonable perfectionism, it develops dif culty with
