Operational Excellence = het streven naar de operationele excellente organisatie waarin processen

Operational Excellence (OpX) = een managementfilosofie over het ontwerpen, realiseren en managen
van een excellente operationele organisatie, maar ook een praktische aanpak om een
voortbrengingssysteem van wereldklasse te ontwikkelen en te exploiteren. Voordelen van

1.1 Operational Excellence nieuwe stijl
Operational excellence is als term voor het eerst verschenen in het model van Treacy & Wiersema als
een van de drie fundamentele waardedisciplines waaruit een organisatie moet kiezen om in te
excelleren (zie blz. 18).
Operational excellence is tegenwoordig niet alleen gericht op het leveren van standaardproducten en
diensten tegen de laagste kosten (of het streven naar de allerhoogste efficiëntie), maar het gaat om
het betrouwbaar en op het juiste moment ontwikkelen, realiseren en leveren van de juiste producten
en diensten tegen de laagst mogelijke integrale kosten.
Het gaat om het verhogen van de doelmatigheid en efficiëntie (kostenkant) en om het verhogen van
de doeltreffendheid en effectiviteit (opbrengstenkant). Het leveren van klantwaarde en de klant
staan centraal.
