Onze visie op opvoeden bepaalt mee deopvoedingsondersteuning
Zoals je zal merken doorheen de lessen, gaat pedagogiek ook over de manier waarop je kijkt naar
opvoeding, kinderen, ouders en de maatschappij. De manier waarop we naar opvoeden kijken zal
daarom ook mee bepalen hoe we de concrete ondersteuning zullen uitwerken. Stel dat je
bijvoorbeeld vindt dat opvoeden louter een taak voor de ouders van het kind is, dan zal
opvoedingsondersteuning zich ook louter richten naar ouders (en niet naar bijvoorbeeld
grootouders).
De visie op opvoeden (en dus ook op opvoedingsondersteuning) in onze huidige maatschappij bevat
drie kernaspecten die worden weergegeven in onderstaande figuur:
Opvoeden is transactioneel: er is een voortdurende wederzijdse beïnvloeding tussen ouder (met zijn
kenmerken) en kind (met zijn kenmerken). M.a.w. opvoeden is geen eenrichtingsverkeer van ouder
naar kind of omgekeerd.
Opvoeding is ingebed in de omgeving: er is ook wederzijdse beïnvloeding vanuit de omgeving.
Opvoeden gebeurt steeds in een context!
De opvoeding is zichzelfsturend: opvoeden start als het kind geboren wordt en ouders doen dat op
een natuurlijke manier. We gaan ervanuit dat die opvoeding blijft lopen onder zeer uiteenlopende
omstandigheden dankzij de aanwezigheid van protectieve factoren. Door een cumulatie van
risicofactoren kan dat functioneren ontregeld worden.
